Weekly Prompts.02: Substack stats and the format for a wilderness survival guide

Hey there! Welcome to Weekly Prompts #2!

Weekly prompts are part one of this newsletter’s paid subscription where I share the GPT prompts I’ve used that week—and what worked and what flopped. In addition to every free weekly post, paid subscribers can access these weekly prompts posts, discounts to my upcoming AI courses, and be part of office hours where you can have your questions answered. Plus, subscribing is a great way to support this newsletter. I hope you join!

A focus on Substack research and brand development for my newsletter. Additionally, some random questions for side research and creativity. This week’s prompts include:

  1. Research on demographics and behaviors of Substack users (Grade: D)

  2. Pull taglines for list of Substack newsletters (B)

  3. Suggest format for a wilderness survival guide (A)

  4. Research best AI tool for creating a logo (A)

  5. Find the five most watched tutorials on AutoGPT (C)

  6. Research the best SPL Meters (for audio recording) (A)

Prompt: Research on demographics and behaviors of Substack users

Please tell me everything you can about the audience who uses the publishing platform SubStack. I need to provide me information about:

* audience demographics, in particular geography, age, professions, likes

If you can find it, I would also like to know about:

* active user counts (all-time, yearly, monthly, etc.)
* Revenue achieved through substack subscriptions (I would prefer this data year over year)
* User trends over time (are more people signing up or less?)

Do you have any questions?

This one became a long back and forth thread and never really materialized into any empirical numbers. I thought Copilot’s internet access would handle that a little better.

Grade: D

Prompt: Pull taglines for list of Substack newsletters

Please provide me the taglines for all of the follow substacks. I have provided you a list of high-performing substacks below and want you to find the taglines.

By substack, I am referring to the publishing threads on the platform Substack.

-- Substack titles START --

Letters from an American
The Pragmatic Engineer
Lenny's Newsletter
Bulwark+
The Fifth Column
The Free Press
Slow Boring
Tipping Point Prophecy Update
House Inhabit
The Isolation Journals
Parent Data
Unreported Truths

-- Substack titles END --

This one worked maybe better than expected, as Copilot pulled all the taglines. It did require some finagling with the output. In retrospect, the output format is something I could have dictated during my initial prompt.

Grade: B

Prompt: Suggest format for a wilderness survival guide

What is the most basic format of a wilderness survival guide?

Answered in one-shot and gave me exactly what I needed: a starting point.

Grade: A
